The Middle Ages was a time of many conflicts and wars. During this time many unusual weapons were battlefield problems. Many of these weapons are known to us, as the sword, axe or spear. But there were also many lesser known and unusual weapons that were in this period in history.
Not all weapons have been specifically designed for fighting or for the hand to hand combat against an armored foe and a good example of this was the man catcher. This unusual weapon was a long rod with a semicircular shape fronts arm caught at the end. The primary use of this weapon is the enemy of royalties for later ransom.
The sword was a unique performance switch weapon developed during the Middle Ages. Once the magazine was quickly caught the sword power switch would snap the opponent's sword blade.
Not all weapons are hand-and caltrop is a good example of the ingenuity of the art of combat and the dynamics on the battlefield. The caltrop was four metal much like a child Jack. Unique to the caltrop was that if you threw him on the ground, because the four structures, it is always a point of standing straight up and that was a serious threat and deterrent to cavalry or foot soldiers.
Some of the unique and unusual designs in weapons were in the realm of the dagger and many different of daggers from the Middle Ages and the roundel with a long conical shaped dagger. It was mainly a piercing weapon, and the conical shape, they look like a long and thin ice cream cone. The dagger was a dagger unusual because they either a square or triangular shape. This method was effective for piercing armor.
The Middle Ages saw a great development in many types of weapons.
